Artificial Intelligence is a multi-disciplinary field that deals with various algorithms. AI is similar to human behavior constantly learning and adapting to the challenges. However, with the rapid development in technology, there is increased usage of AI across various fields. It can be said that the future belongs to AI which is the combination of Machine learning and deep learning.
Computational Fluid Dynamics (CFD)
A numerical analysis based on the field of fluid dynamics. Computers with the help of equations called governing equations are used to calculate the flow behavior by creating simulations. The results of these simulations are then interpreted to get the optimum solutions to the given problem.
The application of CFD can be seen in research-oriented engineering problems across various fields from small scale industries to aerospace industries. These simulations can also be used to predict the weather, environmental changes, etc.
How does this combination work?
In a CFD process time, storage and computational power play a major role. These two factors are inversely proportional, the higher the computational power the lesser the time and vice versa. Even with the advancement in technology most of the computations are not even possible on a personal computer.
This is where AI comes into the picture, the data generated from the simulation can be fed to the AI models and these models crunch these numbers and provide us with the solutions in less time within a reduced computation time.
A typical CFD simulation in real-time requires a huge amount of computational power and is time-consuming. A complex geometry with simple conditions may take days or even weeks to generate results. These results often require modifications which in turn takes even more time and power. The integration of AI into CFD helps to eliminate the need for high computation power and time.
